LIVING AYURVEDA PREP SCHOOL

Living Ayurveda Prep School is a program to  orient you to your elemental nature, what we call in Ayurveda your 'Prakriti,' which means "nature." By exploring the 5 great elements (pancha maha bhutas) the 3 doshas (tridosha) and the 10 pairs of opposites, you'll discover your unique constitution and the practices that support it, as well as the ones that throw it off balance. 

 You’ll learn how we use the simple principle "like increases like and opposites balance" to bring ourselves back to balance when we're out of sync with ourselves, called  "vikriti," which means"against nature." (Some people love the Sanskrit words, and some don't. It's not important to know the terms).

After learning about your elemental nature, you'll read about the Science of Habit Change and you'll identify the kind of person you want to grow into this year (identity-based habit change).  Then you'll begin to craft a daily practice, one small step at a time, to live into this next best version of yourself. Along the way, you'll learn to identify and break the habits that are leading to outcomes you no longer want for yourself. 

This is just an introduction to all of this. We'll take the year to flesh it out and make it real.

  • We'll guide you through the content below in weekly emails to help keep you on track.
     

  •  Week 1:  Listen to the lesson on Vata Dosha. Download, read, and fill in the Vata Growth Work. Fill in the growth work with the habit you want to work on this week. Begin to incorporate your practice into your daily life. 
     

  •  Week 2: Listen to the lesson on Pitta Dosha. Download and then read the Pitta Growth Work. Fill in the growth work with the habit you want to work on this week. Begin to incorporate that second habit into your daily routine. 
     

  •  Week 3: Listen to the lesson on Kapha Dosha. Download and then read the Kapha Growth Work. Fill in the growth work and the habit you want to work on this week. Begin to incorporate your third habit into your daily routine.
     

  •  Week 4: Listen to the lesson on Prakriti. Download and then read the Prakriti Growth Work. Take the Constitutional Quiz and tally your score. Express your results in a ration VPK; i.e., V2P3K1, where 1 is the least, 2 is the second most, and 3 is the most.
     

  • Week 5: Download "Crash Course in Habit Evolution" and read it. Identify what you want and why you want it. Identify who you want to become next.  Find an anchor statement that feels authentic and motivating for you now.
