Hi, I'm Shannon McCall

Ayurveda Practitioner, Yoga Teacher, Writer and Guide

My first mentor sent me to a hatha yoga class when I was  20. Tight and bound up from a traumatic young life, yoga brought me home to my body, supported me in unwinding physically and emotionally and  opened me up to a calling I never imagined.

Not long after beginning a yoga practice, I was studying philosophy, and discovered Dr. Vasant Lad's little red book in an esoteric book store in Seattle.  I saw his smiling photo on the back cover, recognized him as a master healer, and brought the book home.

Fast forward twenty years of full time yoga teaching and raising a child,  I met Dr. Lad in person  and had that recognition people speak of when they meet their teacher. A year later I travelled to India, received my first pancha karma, (āyurvedic detox) and left my home and job to study full time with him at his institute, then located in Albuquerque New Mexico.

Studying and living Āyurveda full time for two years with Dr. Lad, and spending time in India studying with him, working alongside him in his clinic, and witnessing him with his clients opened up my understanding of LIFE and the mystery of healing
I offer Āyurvedic consultations to women in person in Ashland, Oregon and virtually to women living anywhere, in any stage of life.  I guide seasonal cleanses and rejuvenation each fall and spring, and I travel to beautiful retreat centers and offer yoga and Āyurveda retreats most seasons.

After working with me, women report feeling more in touch with themselves, a return to their own deep wisdom, more energy, better sleep, digestion, balanced hormones,  and more capacity to  make the changes they've been wanting to make in a spirit of self-compassion and self-love. Yogis appreciate my detailed guidance, and focus on subtle body integration (breath, mind, focus) in the hatha yoga.

Besides Dr. Lad, I've been  privileged to receive mentorship from Dr. Claudia Welch, in women's hormone health, and to learn about the female nervous system with Kimberly Ann Johnson. I've also studied yoga with  many great yoga teachers, including 20 years with Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten, more than a decade in the Anusara school, Lots of Iyengar yoga and 5 years of work with Ana Forest. I currently study yoga and Āyurveda for brain health with Scott Blossom.
After completing my bachelor's degree in English Literature and Writing in 1990, I took a six month around the world trip, and my then partner and I  fell in love with Bali. After that, we returned there each year, conceived and raised our son in Sayan Village during the 1990's and eventually built a house there and taught yoga to westerners long before that was a thing Bali was known for.  I've travelled extensively in SE asia, the Yucatán, India and the South Pacific and am never happier than in a beautiful natural setting with good company.
