WHAT IS AYURVEDA?
Evolving alongside yoga, with roots in ancient India, ayurveda is a 5,000 year old system of healing with an elegant understanding of the body/mind/consciousness and how to care for it. Like traditional Chinese medicine, ayurveda is a holistic system of preventive medicine that offers the diet, lifestyle, herbal and energetic practices to support our natural health and wellbeing. Ayurveda seeks to treat the root cause of an imbalance by looking into our past illnesses, genetic weaknesses, and mental, emotional, and spiritual stress that were original contributors to the present dis-ease process.
Health from an ayurvedic point of view is not simply the absence of disease, but an ongoing state of deep wellbeing that includes balance of the bodily tissues, regular movement and elimination of waste, balanced use and function of the senses, happiness in the mind and a connection to Self or Source. Ayurveda offers a model of health that prioritizes the individual over the disease, and includes an understanding of different constitutional types that respond differently to the external environment, have unique strengths and weaknesses, and need to be addressed as such within any disease process.
One of my clients described himself as someone “who is not sick, but not well.” If you could say the same, schedule a Complimentary Discovery Session.
